The sites near the top contain the most incoming links. Watch for the links leading to your competitors as they are likely to be compatible links for you as well. If so, ask for a reciprocal link, ask for a link or if the page allows it, add yourself to build up your link popularity. Remember that link popularity is good but link popularity from quality sites is better.
